RI's Hospital Crisis

Countdown to Change, November 4, 2008!

RISC RED ALERT!
The real possibility of a Casino looms again, and RISC is on it! Click HERE for details.

"Rhode Island confronts truly horrific problems: the worst tax climate for business in the country; an unemployment rate above the national average; state budget deficits in the hundreds of millions of dollars; skyrocketing property taxes; wildly unsustainable benefits for public employees; a culture of corruption in the legislature; rampant foreclosures and declining housing prices; the flight of upper-middle-class taxpayers to jurisdictions that punish them less; an influx of poor people, many apparently illegal immigrants, requiring services and putting a severe strain on the state budget; mediocre public schools and an education establishment that opposes greater accountability, parental choice, and the idea of serving students rather than unions." -Edward Achorn, The Providence Journal

Are you concerned about the fairness of your tax burden? Can you vote on how your tax money is spent? Does the state's decision to allow housing developers to bypass local planning boards trouble you? Is a casino in South County a concern? In short, are issues of shoreline and broader state impact a threat to the quality of life you cherish?

Since May 15, 2003, 1,500 Rhode Island residents have joined the Rhode Island Statewide Coalition (RISC); another 2,500 are residents of member associations 4,000 strong! They want to renounce 'business as usual' in the Ocean State and express their dissatisfaction in their Town Councils and legislative halls.

RISC is a grassroots, advocacy organization designed to represent YOU and others who are tired of watching local, regional, state and federal governments and their agencies, ignore or run roughshod over individual concerns.

RISC leaders are your neighbors; the members are those who long to be heard. What we seek is fairness, an opportunity to participate in those decisions which affect our lives and property, and the ability to do so. Summer residents will find RISC a valuable ally in protecting their interests when they are not in residence.

Use the buttons at left to learn more about RISC, to join us in improving life for Rhode Island property owners, to volunteer, to make a donation, and to contact your elected representatives.

The Rhode Island Statewide Coalition is NOT a charitable, tax-exempt organization. Membership dues and other contributions are not tax deductible. This is to preserve the ability of the organization to engage in political activity, including lobbying, if the advancement of its mission and the interests of its members so dictate.
